3. PARTNER WORK:
a. Compare your answers/sentence structure from pages 178, 179, and 180.
b. Make sure your partner has the information from page 177 about the verb HABER in their notes as well as the VERB ENDINGS for imperfect verbs and the IRREGULAR imperfect verbs.
4. INDIVIDUAL WORK:
a. Create a two-panel (regular piece of white printer paper) drawing. On the LEFT, draw of picture of what you USED TO LIKE TO DO when you were little (imperfect) and on the RIGHT, draw a picture of what you LIKE TO DO NOW (present). Write a sentence underneath each drawing.
b. Begin the FIRST DRAFT of your story about HOW YOU MET YOUR CREATURE. Follow these guidelines:
i. Use VOCABULARY you KNOW. Talk about playgrounds, toys, school stuff, shopping, places, etc. You are demonstrating MASTERY of WHAT YOU ARE LEARNING. Do not create a story about this first meeting taking place on another planet, in the future, etc. You don’t know how to say those things yet in Spanish.
ii. TO HAVE MET = Conocer in the preterit. “Lo conocí” = I met him. “La conocí” = I met her.
iii. Answer the following questions: (Think about the story I share with you about the day in the zoo when I met my creature. You are to create a similar story!)
1. How old were you when you met your creature?
2. What were you doing?
3. What were you like then?
4. What else was happening that day?
5. What was the day like?
6. What did your creature look like?
7. What did you/your creature do when you first met?
8. Did anyone else meet your creature that day?
9. What mischievous things happened to get your attention about your creature’s presence?
10. What fun things have happened with your creature since then?
THINK: details!…..details!….details! (Pay attention to verb tense: Is it NARRATING or DESCRIBING!)
5. HOMEWORK:
a. Drawing with 2 sentences, colored, edited, spell-checked and beautiful.
b. Rough Drafts of Creature Stories answering all questions above.
